jetsam34 ::: Favorites Gravel, Kucinich, as well as well as Ron Paul. It's funny how these guys make the most sense, yet they are discredited and are portrayed as idiots. It's astounding the criteria that is being used to choose our leaders. You make a good point about Dawkins and Hitchens. They certainly will not win over anyone who is sitting on the fence regarding these issues. Peace, out. 07-07-25 18:24:45 __________________________________________________
GoForkYourself ::: Favorites i think gravel has taken over where sharpton left off (and gone quite a bit farther). and yeah, i can agree with some of the things that dawkins and hitchens say, but they're manner of speaking will only allow them to be heard by people who already agree with them. they're not going to convert anyone or make any progress for atheism as a whole as long as they act the way they do. 07-07-25 13:02:28 __________________________________________________
jetsam34 ::: Favorites Although I have come accustomed to Hitchens and Dawkins and truly appreciate what they have to say, I cannot disagree with your assessment that they are a-holes. Once again, I love what Sharpton had to say during the last election run. If he doesn't run, I hope he is very vocal throughout the process. 07-07-24 19:41:32 __________________________________________________
GoForkYourself ::: Favorites all of the compassionate, understanding atheists need to step up and make themselves heard, because dawkins and hitchins are making them look bad. but whatever, that has nothing to do with this debate. 07-07-24 13:58:38 __________________________________________________
GoForkYourself ::: Favorites this is my problem with hitchens and dawkins. i wouldn't describe myself as an atheist, but i certainly don't subscribe to any particular religion. it's the way that they get their point across that makes me dislike them and the arrogant/assholish stance of quite a few atheists. to be fair, this is present in religious people (and people in general) as well. 07-07-24 13:58:21 __________________________________________________
jetsam34 ::: Favorites Yes, I agree that was rude. He should have said "I reject the premise of your question", which I would have as well. Their is no question that Christopher Hitchens is an ass. He is an arogant prick, but, in my estimation, makes astute observations regarding religion, politics, etc. Once again, I strongly disagree with his stance on the "War on Terror', but he truly believes that Iraq is tied to 911 and states information that I have heard from no one else. Maybe he's right, but I doubt it. 07-07-24 02:57:29 __________________________________________________
GoForkYourself ::: Favorites and hitchens refused to answer one of the questions put forth by an audience member. if he thought it was a stupid question answer it clearly and, if he was feeling particularly malicious, make the guy asking the question look like an idiot. he shouldn't have just said "next" or whatever and refused to answer it. that made him look stupid. 07-07-23 23:55:51 __________________________________________________
GoForkYourself ::: Favorites you're basing your judgement on whether you agree with the issues presented by the debaters or not. that's not how you judge debates. and sorry, but i'm not going to watch this again just to come up with examples of sharpton "besting" hitchins. sharpton called hitchens out several times for dodging questions and diverting his answers, and he was right to do so. 07-07-23 23:54:03 __________________________________________________
jetsam34 ::: Favorites I'll help you out on this one, the war. Hitchen is dead wrong. Other than that, Hitchens blew Sharpton away. 07-07-23 23:20:57 __________________________________________________
jetsam34 ::: Favorites The truth is the reason why you cannot come up with a specific example(s) is that there aren't any. Give me one example, just one or several, of where the audience or Sharpton bested Hitchens. I would love to hear it. 07-07-23 23:19:55 __________________________________________________ |
