chiefthegreat ::: Favorites Well, what I think plays no role, but there are facts: In Okinawa eg. the citizens had 1 knife per village: It was bound onto something in the center of the village and supervised. Everyone, who had something to cut (food etc.) would go there and do it there. They had _nothing_ sharp, and if: ==> cruel punishment. The Samurai had their swords, but made shure the others didn't. 07-11-04 06:46:34 __________________________________________________
marz12aug ::: Favorites movie? ? ? ? By the way, do you think the weapon of the samurai to be anything? Is not it you to know only a movie? lol 07-11-03 23:12:10 __________________________________________________
chiefthegreat ::: Favorites One mistake most people make is to take Hollywood-movie acting in historical films as similar to what happened on the battlefields. But what you see on the screen is only bodybuilding-actors with _no_ warrior skills. If those katana-freks cut things into little it just proves they are big boys with toys; go to africa and see them fend off real lions with lances etc.. And careful when practising with the katana: dont't cut yourself !!! 07-11-03 13:41:55 __________________________________________________
marz12aug ::: Favorites ? ? ? ? Do you think that the Japanese weapon is only Katana? ? ? ? 07-11-03 09:20:02 __________________________________________________
marz12aug ::: Favorites childish. . . . 07-11-03 09:16:06 __________________________________________________
chiefthegreat ::: Favorites I was in may museums, and also in old castles arms-chambers of european rulers of the middle ages: Their swords were 10 kg-13 kg _heavy_ . And I bet that those knights were no worse fighters than the japanese. Katana seems from this point more like an Instrument to rule over unarmed citizens (and they often were forbidden to have weapons (therefrom Karate etc.)). Besides: Didn't stand the foil at the top of fencing-weapons evolution ?? 07-11-03 05:33:43 __________________________________________________
chiefthegreat ::: Favorites Careful with yor somewhat unhealthy fantasies, man !!! Next swordsman might do it to you ... 07-11-03 05:28:05 __________________________________________________
marz12aug ::: Favorites serious misunderstanding and prejudice. 07-11-02 06:59:49 __________________________________________________
Roman55Legions ::: Favorites I do not care how good you are; the guy with the gun is 98% going to win, this is why wars to day are fought with Guns and rifles! I collect armor, that helmet looked 22 or 20 gauge thick (very thin) WTF dude was that helmet even battle ready? Well that was a very strong hit and a lucky one, because in real life the dude will be moving around and that helps reflect the hits... I have an 18 gauge steel Sallet and a 16 gauge steel Roman helmet, and it looks thicker then that! 07-10-30 02:46:18 __________________________________________________
Roman55Legions ::: Favorites 1. Armor and helmets are thicker... 14 gauge or16 gauge was battle ready thickness.... 2.Also the helmet was plane... Most European helmets and armor had those decorations on the steel; that was not just too look good; it was to reinforce the armor!!! (Making it stronger then it is!!!) 3. Good luck trying to get the guy to sit still, because in real life the dude will be moving around and that helps reflect the hits... 07-10-30 02:46:08 __________________________________________________ |
