The trailer for the Burton one looks rather disappointing - Depp is horrendously miscast - I like Burton movies as a rule, but I wish he'd leave Sweeney alone.

I love this. But one thing i kinda not like is that it's a bit slow. The concert is much faster and a bit more upbeat

it looks awesome--from the trailer it looks like Lovett even imagines 'By the Sea' and plus he showed on Sweeney's history! I hate it when scenes are cut so I love it that they'll add more!

but if I know burton right, he will ad a personal touch, chances for a alternativ ending are big. plus Burton are mostly an artist, what i am looking most forward to in the film, is the seperates scenes, looks and moods, it's gonna be hugh

if it helps, apparently, Sweeney is also Burton's favorite musical.

And Burton was into this kind of stuff long before Sweeney Todd appeared on Broadway. He was into Poe and old horror movies and Vincent Price ever since his childhood. Burton was born in 1958, Sweeney Todd came to America in 1979, and Burton probably didn't see it until 1981 on the tour in Los Angeles. Do the math.

What do you mean I don't get this kind of theatre? It's classic tragedy - a character makes a fatal mistake based on a misunderstanding. It's the most ancient form of theatre. Have you even read Oedipus Rex? A guy kills his father and has kids with his mother without knowing it, and when he finds out he stabs his eyes out and wanders the earth as penance.

she doesn't have any depth in this production because she didn't get to sing 'green finch and linnet bird'
